Dr. Carmel Sivaratnam
Clinical PsychologistBeing a mother while juggling the demands of everyday life, such as working, looking after your health and managing relationships with your partner can be challenging, and it’s okay to reach out for help.
We weren’t meant to do this alone. If you’re struggling, you are not alone. Many communities around the world have a ‘village’ of women supporting a mother as she experiences the life-changing transition of motherhood. This is often not possible in modern Western culture. As mums, our village looks slightly different today, but it is still so important to seek out support to journey with you through motherhood, whatever that looks like for you.
My hope for every mum is that she will find her village, and I would love to support you as part of your village.
I truly believe that just as a child needs to be nurtured and held, a parent also needs to be nurtured and held in order for both to flourish.
My therapeutic style is relaxed, warm and compassionate, and I aim to create a space where you feel understood, respected and empowered. I adopt a range of approaches in therapy, many of which are based on relational approaches aimed at supporting you to build secure attachment relationships. I also use Cognitive-Behavioural therapy and Acceptance and Commitment therapy approaches.
